Artist Brian Mock transforms old, discarded material into shiny fine art. Oregon-based creative welding combines nuts, bolts, and other scrap metal to create excellent metallic animal sculptures. From cats to dogs and mountain lions and bears, his three-dimensional art spans the realm of the animal kingdom.
Mock does not try to hide the original source of his material; Instead, he integrates each individual item into the subject plan. As a result, his metal creatures take on a futuristic look. “I’m excited about the challenge of creating a completely unique piece from a collection of discarded objects,” says Mock. “Giving these old, common items a new and extraordinary life as one sculpture is an artistically challenging but satisfying process. This type of work is designed to be highly interactive and to persuade viewers to question the reality of what they see.
Many of Mock’s works are vivid in size and enhance their visual appeal. Moreover, he deliberately uses his sculptures for natural behaviors that evoke the behavior and personality of their real-life inspirations. One-piece depicts a dog running with a ball and another large mountain lion hunting.
