Artist Justin Batman creates fascinating mosaics out of the stones he finds around him.
Many contemporary artists have literally taken ‘thinking outside the box by bringing their creativity and artistic talents beyond the confines of their paper canvas. Some artists take their art to the streets to transform dark urban spaces into exquisite works of art by using intricate murals and 3D beaded sculptures on the pavement. British artist Justin Batman, on the other hand, is best known for his stunning stone art, which includes detailed photographs made entirely of natural colored stone.
Bateman now lives in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and has since used the city’s natural landscape as his canvas. Instead of using paint or other artificial materials, the artist uses ancient stones to create intricate works of art. And puts his temporary masterpieces on beaches, forests, sidewalks and mountains. Bateman describes his stone art as a masterpiece that leaves only footprints. Using natural stones as his pixels, he uses the natural colors of the stones to represent the faces of prominent people.
